Korean considers battling Blatter for FIFA post

FIFA president Sepp Blatter may face a challenge to his position next year from Korea’s FIFA vice-president Chung Mong-Joon.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter may face a challenge to his position next year from Korea’s FIFA vice-president Chung Mong-Joon.

Chung said he would consider standing for president and that it was “healthy” for FIFA to have competition for the top job.

Chung told the Leaders in Football conference: “I have not thought of doing so before seriously but now I will think about it.

“It’s still too early to say there will be no contender next May.

“In order to keep a large organisation like FIFA healthy you need healthy competition.”
