Shamrock Rovers can take a step closer to securing the league title with victory over UCD at the UCD Bowl tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Dan Murray, Sean O’Connor and Pat Sullivan are all out for Rovers with knee injuries.

James Chambers has a slight ankle problem and will undergo a fitness test before the game.

Otherwise Michael O’Neill’s squad is in good shape with no suspensions.

Hoops boss O’Neill said: “We won twice in a week at UCD earlier in the season, in the League and the EA Sports Cup. But to be honest, they were both very tight games. And I don’t envisage it being any different.

“We might have our own aims, however UCD are fighting for their position in the division. They will be well up for the game.

“But our last two performances were very good and we’ll be looking to repeat that and get the three points.”

UCD have a strong squad to choose from for the visit of the Hoops as Ciaran Nangle, Gareth Matthews and Brian Shortall return to the squad.

Greg Bolger, David McMillan and Paul Corry are also set to start after returning from the Ireland Under-23 victory in Estonia.

Long-term absentee Paul Harding remains out of manager Martin Russell’s squad.
