Sligo cruise to semi-final berth
Sligo Rovers 3 Monaghan United 0
Sligo kept themselves in contention for glory in both major cup competitions with a comfortable win over First Division leaders Monaghan tonight to ease into the last four of the FAI Ford Cup.
Romuald Boco was narrowly wide from a free kick on 22 minutes before Sligo took the lead two minutes later when awarded a penalty for a handball by Conor McMahon.
Alan Keane confidently sent Gabriel Sava the wrong way from the spot.
Sligo doubled their lead 30 seconds into the second half when Aidan Collins' poor clearance from a Richie Ryan cross was picked up by Joseph Ndo who played Boco in to score.
Substitute Mark McGoldrick added the third goal in the third minute of added time, collecting Boco's pass to lob Sava.
The sides meet again at the same venue next Saturday in the final of the EA Sports Cup.
