Mancienne poised for Wolves return

Michael Mancienne could be set to rejoin Wolves on a season-long loan.

Chelsea defender Mancienne has spent two loan spells at Molineux in the past two seasons, including for the whole of the last campaign.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy recently claimed the Blues want to sell rather than loan the 22-year-old former England Under-21 international, who he believes has asked to leave Stamford Bridge.

Reports suggest Chelsea are demanding a fee of between £5m and £6m for the player, but the midlands club are not willing to meet the asking price, meaning another loan switch is thought to be on the agenda.

McCarthy said earlier this month: “We won’t be buying him.

“If they were loaning him out again then that’s a different matter altogether.

“From my understanding, he’s asked for a transfer, but they want to sell him rather than loan him.

“Of course I’d be interested if they want to loan him out, but that’s up to them.”

Mancienne, who has played only six times in five years for Chelsea, has also been linked with a move to Newcastle.
