Keane has no intention of retiring from international scene

Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane has said he is "bored" of speculation about his club future and that he has no intention of retiring from the international scene in the near future.

Keane reiterated that he remains a Spurs player and hopes to feature for them in the Champions League.

The striker said of the speculation that he is leaving Spurs: "You get a bit bored of it after a while, I have had it for 12 years so I am used to it."

He went on to say that his loan to Celtic was a good move for him.

He said: "Going to Celtic is probably the best thing that happened to me. I got my hunger back for football.

The 30-year-old, who will earn his 100th cap against Argentina on Wednesday at the Aviva Stadium, said he is looking forward to the game.

"There's no better team to play against than Argentina, they are one of the best in the world."

"It’s a big week. You always dream about playing for your country but you never think you’ll reach the milestone of 100 caps and it’s ironic because my first home game for Ireland was against Argentina too."

On his international career, Keane moved to dampen speculation that he might retire soon by saying he was looking forward to qualifying for the European Championships in 2012.

"I still feel good, as long as I feel sharp I will play as long as I can.

"I am not looking at the end yet, I will play in the European 2012 campaign and see what happens after that."

He is also looking forward to a good season with Spurs saying: "I had a great pre-season and I feel probably the best I have felt for a long time."
