Vidic surprised at amount of United fans

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has said that last night's 7-1 win over the Airtricity league eleven at the Aviva Stadium was good preparation for the new season.

The Serbian international was also surprised at the number of Manchester United fans at the Aviva Stadium last night.

Vidic said: "It's my first game of the season so I am not in any great shape at the moment, but in the next few games I will build up my form."

He praised the pitch at the new stadium and also had a word of praise for the fans saying: "The fans were great tonight and I am surprised how many Man Utd fans are here."
