UCD hope to change course with Bray clash

UCD will be looking to put their recent bad form behind them as they take on bottom-of-the-table Bray Wanderers at the UCD Bowl tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

UCD will be looking to put their recent bad form behind them as they take on bottom-of-the-table Bray Wanderers at the UCD Bowl tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Greg Bolger is likely to return for the Students. However, David McMillan is still a long-term absentee and Sean Harding, Brian Shortall and Chris Mulhall all miss out.

College manager Martin Russell said: “Recent results haven’t gone our way. But there have been positives in defeat.

“Ger Barron is back in contention after a frustrating series of injuries and Michael Kelly made an impressive return against Sligo.

“Recent recruits from the Intermediate squad, Dwayne Wilson and Paul O’Conor are making good progress. We continue to learn from our Premier Division programme and are in a position to provide opportunities for our young players to seize.”

Defender Michael Leahy is also returning to fitness but is unlikely to feature against Wanderers.

Richie Baker will, once again, miss out for Bray and midfielder Chris Shields is a doubt with a toe injury.

However, Wanderers boss Eddie Gormley is confident the big midfieder will be fine to start and Gormley has drafted new signing Graham Kelly into his squad for the game.

Gormley said: "We have to target other teams to get ourselves out of the position we are in.

“We will be looking for revenge on Friday for the defeat we suffered when we played at the Carlisle earlier in the season. We will give it our best shot and hope we can take something from the game.”
