Baggies tracking Liverpool striker

West Brom manager Roberto di Matteo has confirmed his interest in signing French forward David N’Gog on loan from Liverpool.

Di Matteo admits, however, that no deal is likely to be done before the end of this week’s training camp in Holland.

The Italian told club website www.wba.co.uk: “Yes, he [N’Gog] is a player we are interested in.

“But most clubs wait until the end of July and the beginning of August before deciding on which players they might loan out.”

He added: “It is pretty quiet all over Europe.

“I have spoken to a lot of people and there are not many deals being done.

“A lot of the deals are loans – there haven’t been many transfers.

“Who has signed players? Manchester City, Chelsea and Wolves have been quite active, but it’s pretty quiet generally.

“I still think there will be more deals. It’s just slower and calmer than it used to be.”
