Taylor re-signs for City

Manchester City have re-signed goalkeeper Stuart Taylor, nine days after releasing the 29-year-old reserve.

City announced on July 1 the former Arsenal and Aston Villa goalkeeper was leaving the club, having made only one appearance last season.

But today it was confirmed Taylor has signed a two-year contract with the club.

Taylor missed his major opportunity to stand in for number one choice Shay Given when the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper suffered a dislocated shoulder towards the end of the season as he was out with a knee injury of his own, requiring City to sign Marton Fulop on an emergency loan.

Taylor’s chances of first-team football seem even more remote in the coming season with Joe Hart back from his loan spell at Birmingham to battle Given for the number one spot.
