Former Sligo favourite Chris Turner hit the winner as Shamrock Rovers came from behind as the Bit ‘O Red finished with 10 men.

Sligo hit the front on 23 minutes when former Shamrock winger Eoin Doyle rose to head home a Joseph Ndo corner.

It began to go wrong for Sligo on 37 minutes when key defender Gavin Peers was shown a straight red card by referee Richie Winter for a challenge on Billy Dennehy.

Rovers levelled on 54 minutes when Gary Twigg forced defender Alan Keane to head into his own net from Dennehy’s cross, though Twigg initially claimed the goal.

Turner then won it on 61 minutes when his header came down of the crossbar and was deemed to have crossed the line by an assistant referee.
