Both sides finished with ten men as Sligo burst the students’ recent bubble with a hard fought victory at the UCD Bowl.

Sligo had the ideal start when College failed to defend Richie Ryan's free-kick into their area and leading score Padraig Amond shot home his sixth goal in four league games.

Defender Gavin Peers added to that with a good header from a corner two minutes after the break.

Peer’s central defensive partner Alan Keane was the first to be sent off on 87 minutes when shown a straight red card by referee Declan Hanney for chopping down Ciaran Nangle.

UCD playmaker Greg Bolger was then also dismissed for a late challenge on Sligo keeper Richard Brush in the final minute.
