Suspension-hit Dundalk lost their leadership of the table as Sporting did enough to move above them into second place despite finishing with ten men at Oriel Park.

The sides swapped goals in a quick-fire opening to the game.

Sporting took the lead on five minutes when Shaun Williams arrived at the back post to head home Conan Byrne’s superb cross from the right.

The lead lasted just four minutes though as Neale Fenn collected a loose ball to feed Fahrudin Kuduzovic who chipped over keeper Brendan Clarke from the edge of the area.

Ronan Finn then snatched the winner on 78 minutes when latching onto Glen Crowe's backheel to fire home.

Sporting had defender Ger O'Brien sent off six minutes from time.
