Paddy Madden scored a hat-trick as Bohemians eased into the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup this afternoon.

Seven-times winners Bohs opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Madden confidently slid the ball home after Ruaidhri Higgins had played him in on goal.

Gareth McGlynn and Madden missed sitters before they doubled their lead on 29 minutes.

Skipper Owen Heary got to the end line to put over a low cross which Madden controlled well before rifling home.

Non-league minnows, Glenville, the lowest ranked team in the cup, had some glory on 42 minutes when Jason Hegarty punished a slip by Mark Rossiter to run though and score with a terrific rising shot.

But Bohs restored their two-goal lead right on half-time when Ken Oman scored with a towering header from Killian Brennan’s free-kick.

Bohs had the luxury of springing Jason Byrne from the bench and he added their fourth goal on 66 minutes, racing clear onto McGlynn’s through ball to blast past Malone.

Madden completed his hat-trick on 82 minutes with Higgins and Byrne adding further goals before the finish.

In the other cup tie of the day, Carlow and Monaghan United will have to do it all again, as the sides played out a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Carlow midfielder Brian Quigley and Karl Bermingham for the away side.
