Upson on the mend
Matthew Upson was the only absentee from England’s training session at their Bafokeng headquarters this morning.
The West Ham centre-back had improved significantly after a high temperature had prevented him from taking part in yesterday’s session.
Upson was undergoing gym work today with a view to resuming full training with the other members of the 23-strong party tomorrow.
A Football Association spokesman said: “Matthew is feeling a lot better. He is working in the gym today and will train tomorrow.”
Ledley King was also participating with his team-mates after only undergoing gym work yesterday.
The Tottenham defender could have a greater role to play in the squad with Rio Ferdinand ruled out of the tournament with knee ligament damage.
