Depleted Bray face Candystripes in FAI Cup

Top of the First Division takes on last in the Premier Division as Derry City face Bray Wanderers in the FAI Ford Cup at the Brandywell Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.

The home side will certainly fancy their chances against struggling Bray despite the fact that they are in the league below tonight’s visitors.

City were unlucky to go out of the EA Sports Cup to Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday night and will be looking to advance to the next round of the FAI Cup with victory over Wanderers.

For Bray, Richie Baker (back), David Tyrrell (ankle), David O'Neill (groin) and Dean Zambra (knee) are all certain to miss the trip to Derry.

Manager Eddie Gormley also has doubts about the fitness of Chris Shields (thigh), John Mulroy (calf) and goalkeeper Brian Kane (hip).

Colm Tresson returns to the squad having missed out during the week against Bohemians with a knee injury.

Gormley said: “I'm looking forward to the trip to Derry. In my opinion, they still have a Premier squad and it will be a tough night for us.

“If we keep improving and giving the effort we have been, well, it is the Cup and anything can happen.

“We need to keep it tight and cut out the defensive errors and then we can get something from the game.”
