Sligo hit four past St Pat's
Sligo Rovers 4 St Patrick's Athletic 1
Sligo went goal crazy at the Showgrounds again as they rout St. Pat’s to book their berth in the semi-finals tonight.
Sligo, fresh from Saturday’s five-goal fest against Bray, started well and Padraig Amond chipped over the bar before they took the lead on 22 minutes.
Richie Ryan’s free-kick to the back post caught Saints napping and John Russell nipped in to squeeze the ball home with his head.
It was 2-0 nine minutes later when ex-Cameroon international Joseph Ndo rifled to the net.
Saints made a match of it when midfielder Conor Sinnott got a goal back on 70 minutes.
But Eoin Doyle restored Sligo’s two-goal advantage on 85 minutes with Amond getting on the score sheet to complete the rout in the final minute.
