UCD consign table-toppers Dundalk to defeat

UCD 3 Dundalk 1

UCD 3 Dundalk 1

Dundalk stay top of the table despite this thorough beating at the UCD Bowl.

David McMillan rose unchallenged to power home a header from Chris Mulhall’s 13th minute corner to put College in front with his fifth goal in five games.

Two minutes later UCD doubled their lead when defender Brian Shortall waltzed through the Dundalk defence to put Ciaran Kilduff in on goal to confidently shoot past Peter Cherrie.

It should have been 3-0 put for an amazing save from Cherrie on 33 minutes. Kilduff was put through on goal and his rasping drive was brilliantly tipped onto the bar and out for a corner by the Dundalk keeper - save of the season.

Dundalk then got right back into the match on 38 minutes with a super solo goal from Faz Kuduzovic, who cut across from the right to drill his low shot to the corner of the net from 20 yards.

But UCD restored their two goal lead in first-half stoppage time with a wonderful goal.

Mulhall was the architect, beginning the move, linking with Kilduff, before feeding Paul Corry to shoot home as Dundalk were torn apart.
