Ben Burgess and Blackpool were celebrating promotion to the top flight after Brett Ormerod scored the winner to earn a 3-2 victory over Cardiff in the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final.

Burgess saw action on the day, coming off the bench in the 53rd minute to replace injured striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who had scored Blackpool's second to put the teams on level terms.

The Lancashire side, who were in the bottom division just nine years ago, will be rubbing shoulders with Chelsea and Manchester United next season after a thrilling Wembley victory.

Cardiff, bidding to become the first Welsh side in the Premier League, led twice through Michael Chopra and Joe Ledley but they were pegged back by Charlie Adam and Taylor-Fletcher before veteran frontman Ormerod cracked the winner in first-half stoppage time.
