Pat's have their revenge
St. Patrick’s Athletic 3 Bohemians 1
St. Pat's avenged their Setanta Sports Cup final defeat of last weekend in style as they came from behind to beat the champions at Richmond Park.
A dreadful blunder by Gary Rogers gifted Bohs the lead on 13 minutes. The Saints’ keeper’s poor clearance ran straight to Bohs’ Anto Murphy who put Jason Byrne in to shoot home.
A minute later a bad foul by former St. Pat’s striker Mark Quigley on Gareth Coughlan saw the Saints winger taken off on a stretcher with a broken leg while Bohs boss Pat Fenlon substituted Quigley.
That roused St. Pat’s and they blitzed Bohs to score three times inside five minutes before half-time.
Derek Doyle levelled on 39 minutes with a scrappy goal.
Shane Guthrie then set-up Paul Byrne to put St. Pat’s ahead on 42 minutes.
A stunning 30-yard strike from Stuart Byrne two minutes later gave Saints a two goal cushion at the break which they held to win the match.
