Dundalk back on top
Dundalk 0 Galway United 0
Dundalk did just enough to edge back to the top of the Premier Division table on goal differnece as they had to settle for a frustrating scoreless draw with lowly Galway at Oriel Park.
An out of sorts Dundalk struggled to create chances in a dour first half.
The one time they did work an opening, with Ross Gaynor and Neale Fenn setting up JJ Melligan to shoot, Galway skipper and keeper Barry Ryan was equal to the effort and parry the ball away with it then being cleared for a corner.
The second half was little better with Galway having perhaps its best chance on 76 minutes from a corner. Jamie McKenzie’s initial effort was cleared with Bobby Ryan’s follow-up saved well at the foot of a post by Peter Cherrie.
