Thomson waits to learn fate
Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson has no intention of leaving Ibrox – but he fears the club’s financial predicament may force his hand.
Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has been credited with an interest in Thomson, who has a year left on his contract.
Rangers have entered a summer of uncertainty with manager Walter Smith in the dark over his future as London-based Andrew Ellis weighs up a bid for the club, who are more than £30million in debt.
Thomson, 25, said: “My fate is out of my own hands to a certain extent.
“I have a year left on my contract but I have stated numerous times that I would love to sign a new deal and that I see my future lying here.
“I love this club and I love being here – for me it’s the best club in the world. I hope the banks aren’t going to force the situation and tell me that I need to move on.
“The grass is not always greener on the other side. If I was to stay at this club for the rest of my life I would be a happy boy.”
