Grant promises to field 'fittest team'

Avram Grant has pledged to field his fittest players for already-relegated Portsmouth’s last Barclays Premier League game of the season at Everton on Sunday, but warned it will not be the same team as will play in next Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Avram Grant has pledged to field his fittest players for already-relegated Portsmouth’s last Barclays Premier League game of the season at Everton on Sunday, but warned it will not be the same team as will play in next Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Boss Grant, who still insists he will give the debt-ridden club “a little more time” to find new owners before deciding his own future, has at least 10 players doubtful, but could spring a surprise by recalling Pompey’s Player of the Year Jamie O’Hara who is training again after missing the last four games with a back injury.

Defenders Hermann Hreidarsson (Achilles) and Tal Ben Haim (groin), striker Danny Webber (knee) and midfielder Richard Hughes (hamstring) are definitely out.

Team (from): James, Vanden Borre, Finnan, Mokoena, Mullins, Basinas, Brown, O’Hara, Diop, Ward, Sowah, Wilson, Yebda, Dindane, Smith, Utaka, Kanu, Piquionne, Boateng, Ashdown.
