Ronan Finn scored the only goal at the Showgrounds as Sporting Fingal got back to winning ways to move back up to fourth in the Premier Division table.

With Joseph Ndo running the game, Sligo owned the ball in the first half but still found themselves behind at the break.

Gary McCabe, on several occasions, and Mark Doninger came close for Rovers, before Sporting snatched what proved their winner on 43 minutes.

Midfielder Finn latched onto an Eamon Zayed header to drive a shot through the legs of defender Gavin Peers and beat keeper Richard Brush.

Sligo continued to dominate in the second half with Sporting keeper Darren Quigley making the save of the night from Richie Ryan on 72 minutes.

Sporting had central defender Kenny Browne sent off on 83 minutes for a second yellow card, but held on for a big win.
