Few injury concerns for UCD
UCD travel to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemians in tonight’s Airtricity League Premier Division clash (kick-off 7.45pm).
College midfielder Robbie Creevy is a doubt and will face a fitness test ahead of the game, while defender Brian Shortall is also a concern as he picked up a knock in Monday’s victory against Drogheda.
Otherwise, UCD travel with a full squad for their clash with the reigning champions.
College assistant manager Diamuid McNally is looking forward to the challenge ahead for the Students. He said: “We never underestimate the opposition. Especially when they have the pedigree and track record of Bohs. But we’re up for it and looking forward to the occasion.”
Gypsies boss Pat Fenlon must plan for the visit of the Students without experienced defenders Owen Heary (hamstring) and Steven Gray (Achilles).
Fenlon has no illusions about the task on hand.
“UCD caused us problems when we played them away,” he said. “I watched them against Shamrock Rovers, and they played very well.
“People might expect us to beat UCD but the results of the last few weeks should have shown that things don’t happen as they're expected to.
“I’m asking our supporters to appreciate that, but also to appreciate that they will always get effort from the team.
“Other teams in the league have improved. The spread of former Derry and Cork players has brought up the level. So no match is going to be easy.”
