Bray hoping for repeat against Rovers

Bray Wanderers will be hoping for a repeat performance at Tallaght Stadium tonight when they take on Shamrock Rovers tonight, kick-off 8.00pm.

Wanderers won the corresponding fixture last season and the same result tonight might kick-start what has been a disappointing season so far for Eddie Gormely’s side.

Bray will be missing several players for their trip to Tallaght with veteran defender Colm Tresson, winger Richie Baker, striker Shane O'Neill and midfielder Stephen Brennan are all injured.

Ian Touhy, David O'Neill and Adam O'Connor have been added to the travelling squad.

Speaking ahead of the game Gormley said: "We will go to Tallaght knowing it will be difficult, but looking to get something from the game.”

Pat Sullivan (knee), Craig Sives (hamstring), Dessie Baker (broken arm), Stephen Bradley (wrist) and Don Cowan (groin) are still unavailable for selection for Rovers.

And there are also doubts about the availability of Robert Bayly (ankle) and Sean O’Connor, who picked up a knock earlier this week.

“Robert Bayly picked up an ankle injury in the game against Drogheda last weekend. We are monitoring him at the moment, and will see how he is before the game,” said Hoops boss Michael O’Neill.

O’Neill added: “People will look at this game and see Bray struggling. But in Bray’s defence they were left with very little time to put a team together after finding out they would be in the Premier. It is a young, inexperienced side, but they are not a bad side.

“They have a lot of young lads in the squad and I think they’ll look forward to coming to Tallaght; we’ll have to be at our best to get the win.”
