Pat’s go top after Bray rout
Bray Wanderers 0 St. Patrick’s Athletic 4
Four goals in 14 first-half minutes eased St. Pat’s back to the top of the Airtricity Premier Division as they brushed aside bottom side Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.
Even though Pat’s were without three key players - captain Damian Lynch, Ryan Guy and Dave Mulcahy - while Stuart Byrne was injured, Pete Mahon’s side dominated from the start and led from the 27th minute when Brian Cash’s deep cross from the right was headed home by Paul Byrne.
Skipper for the night Conor Kenna then got a flick header to Conor Sinnott’s free-kick for the second goal on 33 minutes.
It was 3-0 on 38 minutes when Kenna’s central defensive partner Shane Guthrie also headed home from Sinnott’s delivery.
Two minutes later it was four as Byrne flicked on Kenna’s clearance to set up Gareth Coughlan to rifle home to complete the rout.
