Drogs shock St Pat's with late winner

St. Patrick’s Athletic 0 Drogheda United 1

Eoghan Osbourne scored a dramatic late winner to knock St. Pat’s off the top of the table and give Drogheda their first victory of the season.

It was something of a game of two halves, as Alan Mathews' lowly Drogheda had the better of the first 45 minutes before being under the cosh for much of the second half.

But there was to be a twist in the tail as the goal then arrived against the run of play in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

A foul by Shane Guthrie on John Flood gave 18-year-old Osbourne his chance and the youth international left-back beat Gary Rogers with the free-kick from almost 25 yards.
