Early strike earns win for Rovers
Galway United 0 Shamrock Rovers 1
An early Pat Sullivan goal earned Shamrock Rovers a much-needed first win of the season.
Rovers started well with Galway keeper Barry Ryan saving from Billy Dennehy before the visitors deservedly took the lead on seven minutes.
Sean O’Connor’s free-kick into the Galway area wasn’t defended and Rovers’ right-back Sullivan scored with a deflected header.
Rovers' keeper Alan Mannus had to make the stop of the night to prevent Galway equalising when parrying Cian McBrien’s shot.
