Doyle the Sligo hero
Sligo Rovers 1 Galway United 0
Eoin Doyle was the Showgrounds’ hero as Sligo got their first win of the season over former boss Sean Connor in the Connacht derby.
In a first half edged by Sligo, referee Declan Hanney provided the main talking point when he turned down a home penalty claim when Rovers’ striker Padraig Amond appeared to be felled in the box by Seamus Conneely.
Sligo deservedly got their winner on 63 minutes. Matt Blinkhorn headed John Dillon’s cross down for Doyle who shot home his second league goal of the season to move Sligo up to third in the table.
