Bohs look for three-win hat-trick

Bohemians will be looking to make it three league wins in a row when they take on Drogheda United at Hunky Dorys Park tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

For Bohs, centre-half Jason McGuinness remains out with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to be fit for at least two weeks.

Fellow-defenders Brian Shelley and Stephen Gray came off against UCD with injuries and are rated as doubtful for the trip to Drogheda.

Gypsies boss Pat Fenlon said: “I know Drogheda got spanked on the first day by UCD but they improved drastically going to Dundalk and got a decent point, even though they should have got all the points.

"Alan’s (Mathews) teams are always hard to play against and hard to beat.

"The pitch in Drogheda is tight and compact. It’s a tough game but all games are tough. People think because we’re Bohs and we’re champions that we should go everywhere and win but it’s not like that.”

Drogheda boss Mathews must plan without Corie Treacy who received a head injury in the 2-2 draw with Dundalk.

The former Shamrock Rovers defender is expected to be back for next week’s trip to Fingal.

Michael Daly is suspended after being red carded in the Dundalk game, while Eric McGill and Paul Crowley come back from suspension.

Mathews said: “Bohs are the best team in the league. It's important we press them when we don't have the ball, and when we do, we need to keep it well and get shots on goal. We're not geared to sit in and invite teams onto us and hit them on the break.”
