Sheppard leads Galway to victory

Karl Sheppard scored one and set up the second as Galway got their first points of the campaign.

Striker Sheppard gave Galway the lead on 21 minutes when he followed up to touch home as Gary Curran’s shot trickled towards goal following a deflection.

Sheppard was then involved as Galway doubled their lead six minutes later.

Jason Molloy failed to get a touch on the cross, but Derek O’Brien arrived at the back post to fire home.

Wanderers hit back on 41 minutes when defender Philip Knight pulled a goal back after Galway failed to clear a corner.
