Laws has faith in his strikers

Burnley manager Brian Laws is convinced the club can stay up because of the attacking options at his disposal.

Burnley manager Brian Laws is convinced the club can stay up because of the attacking options at his disposal.

David Nugent’s sixth goal since arriving on loan from Portsmouth secured a 1-1 draw against Stoke at Turf Moor.

The striker got on the end of a superb cross from partner Martin Paterson in the 52nd minute to head home.

Burnley dominated the second half but had to settle for a point after Tuncay opened the scoring for Stoke.

It means that while the Clarets move above Hull they remain in the relegation zone.

Next up are fellow strugglers Wolves at home on Saturday and Laws is quietly confident they can get out of trouble.

Laws said: “Nugent’s in good form as is Paterson. That gives you great belief. We have goals in us. We just have to keep it tight at the back.

“Nugent’s goal was terrific, it was great ball in by Paterson. It set the tone and I am disappointed we didn’t go on and win the game.”
