McCulloch issues title warning

Lee McCulloch has warned that one slip-up from Rangers will throw the race for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title open.

Walter Smith’s men sit 10 points clear at the top of the table after they and Celtic both won at the weekend.

McCulloch scored twice in Rangers’ 3-1 win at home to St Mirren on Saturday, levelling just two minutes after Graham Carey had fired the visitors into a shock lead and striking again a minute into the second half.

McCulloch said: “I don’t think we can afford to dream.

“One bad result and Celtic – and the other teams around us – get their tails up.

“We’ve got to just keep going. We’ve got a massive game against Kilmarnock on Tuesday against a team who are doing well and who have some good players.”

Hibernian striker Abdessalam Benjelloun was relieved to see his side end their five-match winless run as they beat Kilmarnock 1-0 to stay firmly in the hunt for European qualification.

Derek Riordan’s free-kick earned Hibs the points and Benjelloun said: “We had a bad time in the last five games. It’s good for us to come back and fight.”
