City hand Vieira start
Patrick Vieira and Adam Johnson were handed their first Barclays Premier League starts as Manchester City looked to find a winning formula against local rivals Bolton.
There was no place for Shaun Wright-Phillips or Stephen Ireland in the Blues line-up. The pair were joined on the bench by £22m defender Joleon Lescott, who has recovered from a knee injury.
On-loan teenager Jack Wilshere was in the Bolton starting line-up as the Trotters aimed to record their first away win since September.
