Cork City aim to appoint a new chairman in 48 hours

Cork City FC hope to appoint an interim chairman within the next 48 hours.

City owner Tom Coughlan is confident that his new interim chairman will be in place sooner rather than later and that he will be responsible for the smooth transition of the club to its new owners.

“Negotiations are at an advanced stage with a number of interested parties,” Coughlan said.

“I hope to have a deal wrapped up by the end of the week with the new owner.

“The club’s interim chairman will be announced in the next 48 hours and it will be his job to oversee the changeover and transition to the new owners with as little fuss as possible.”

The club was in the High Court again today facing a winding up order from the Revenue, but the case was adjourned for two weeks. This adjournment is in order to facilitate the orderly takeover of the club.

City have another pre-season friendly arranged for Wednesday night at St Colman’s Park where they play the Cork AUL Oscar Traynor Cup squad with a 7.30pm kick-off.
