Boyd buoyed by five-star show

Kris Boyd hailed his five-goal spree against Dundee United as his greatest night as a Rangers player after overtaking Henrik Larsson as the Clydesdale Bank Premier League’s most prolific goalscorer ever.

The striker stole the show as Rangers romped to a 7-1 win at Ibrox as he brought his tally of SPL goals to 160 – two more than the Celtic legend.

Boyd is well aware of how highly regarded Larsson still is in Scotland and admitted he was proud to write his own name into the history books.

“It is my best night because to get past someone like Henrik Larsson is a great achievement and it’s one I’m proud of doing,” he said.

“I’m delighted to go past Henrik Larsson but I’m greedy and I want more goals. We set out tonight to get the three points and we have done that.

“The result maybe flattered us a little bit but the three points have set us up nicely to go to Parkhead on Sunday.”
