Birmingham defender Franck Queudrue insists he wants to remain at St Andrew’s and fight to regain his place in Alex McLeish’s team.

Queudrue was voted player of the year last campaign but has not managed to get back in the side since returning from injury.

However, the 31-year-old, whose contract runs out in the summer, is nevertheless eager to pen a new deal.

“It’s going well here,” Queudrue told L’Equipe. “But I would like to know very quickly if the club want to offer me something, because I am free to choose from January.

“I would really love to stay at Birmingham, my family are happy here.

“I started the season. I played six matches and then I did myself a little tear.

“Since I came back, the team have been winning and there hasn’t been any reason to change things.”

Queudrue, who lists Middlesbrough and Fulham among his former clubs, has been at Birmingham since August 2007.
