Kaboul, who rescued the Fratton Park outfit with a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw at Sunderland last Saturday, was sent off at the Stadium of Light after receiving a second yellow card for removing his shirt after scoring the goal.

But Kevin-Prince Boateng and Steve Finnan, who both missed the game with viruses, could be available to return at Stamford Bridge.

Provisional squad: James, Begovic, Mokoena, Mullins, Kanu, Belhadj, Vanden Borre, Piquionne, Ben-Haim, Yebda, Dindane, Brown, Wilson, Hreidarsson, O’Hara, Smith, Boateng, Diop, Finnan, Boateng.
