Injury crisis deepens for Ferguson

Alex Ferguson is facing a major defensive headache ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League encounter with Wolfsburg tonight.

As his only fit defenders are Patrice Evra and untried 19-year-old Oliver Gill, Ferguson must decide which midfielders he will use alongside Michael Carrick, who is already earmarked for a centre-back berth.

Michael Owen will definitely start in attack as United look for the point required to secure top spot in Group B.
