Kilbane annoyed with handball referee
Kevin Kilbane has laid the blame for the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup heartbreak firmly at the door of referee Martin Hansson, claiming the official did not know whether or not Thierry Henry had handled the ball in the run-up to France’s goal.
Henry’s offence came in the run-up to William Gallas’ extra-time play-off strike, which saw Les Bleus advance to next year’s tournament in South Africa at the expense of Ireland.
