Loss to Derry sees Bray relegated

Derry City 3 Bray Wanderers 0

Bray Wanderers have been relegated from the Premier Division tonight following defeat to Derry City tonight.

Goals from David McDaid, Clive Delaney and Dave Mulcahy, who put through his own net, kept cash-troubled Derry’s hopes of Europe alive going into the last game of the season next week.

The win was a fitting tribute to Derry stalwart Peter Hutton who bade farewell in what was his final game at the Brandywell before he retires next week.

Derry keeper Ger Doherty saved well from Stephen Brennan before the home side went up the other end to take the lead on 18 minutes.

Thomas Stewart’s trickery got him in behind the visitors’ defence to cross to give McDaid a simple tap-in.

Central defender Delaney added the second goal 10 minutes into the second half when heading home James McLean’s corner.

Mulcahy then inadvertently headed into his own net eight minutes later when trying to clear.
