Win vital for Rovers' title hopes

Shamrock Rovers have to beat Galway United at Tallaght Stadium tonight if they are have any chance of winning this year’s title, kick-off 7.35pm.

Rovers are at full strength ahead of the Galway clash.

Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “I’m delighted to say that we have no injury doubts. Everyone came through last week, and Paddy Kavanagh also played in a reserve game on Monday.

“It’s good to have everyone available again. We’ve had a few different problems with injuries and illness – we’re particularly glad to see the back of the flu that affected a couple of players.

“There’s a lot to play for and every fixture this weekend has something hinging on it – and our game against Galway at Tallaght Stadium is no different.

“They had some good results recently and may have felt that they were safe, but in the last couple of weeks they’ve gone back into a dangerous position so this is a big game for them.

“We expect a tough game from Galway, but we know it’s a must-win game for Shamrock Rovers and that’s what we’ve prepared for and what we intend to do.”

Galway travel to face the Hoops without influential captain John Russell, who is ruled out with an ankle injury, while Mark O’Toole is ruled out for the remainder of the season.
