Crowds continue to dwindle as Cork can only draw
Cork City 0 Drogheda United 0
Battling Drogheda put the brakes on Cork’s surge for a Europa League spot with a rousing display to take a point from Turner’s Cross tonight.
In an awful spectacle of a game before another small crowd of less then 1,000, Cork did have the ball in the Drogheda net early on but Shane Duggan’s effort was ruled out for an infringement.
It scarcely got much better into the second half as Cork finished with 10 men when skipper Dan Murray was sent off for a second booking three minutes from time.
The result leave Cork three points clear of Derry City in third place with two games to play. Failing to win consigns Drogheda to a relegation play-off at best.
