Saints' keeper Brendan Clarke made good first half stops to deprive Chris Turner and then Michael McGowan.

Ryan Guy had Saints' only real chance of the first half but shot wide of Peter Cherrie's goal.

Pete Mahon's Saints were frustrated in the second half as a Garreth O'Connor goal was given offside after Mark Quigely had come close.

Dundalk then had shouts for a penalty waved away late on after Saints' defender Jason Gavin appeared to handle.
