Rangers hopeful over Weir
Rangers manager Walter Smith is optimistic David Weir will be back for tomorrow’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Kilmarnock.
The defender missed Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Stuttgart with an ankle knock he sustained in last week’s goalless draw at Motherwell.
However, the 39-year-old trained today and, providing he suffers no adverse reaction to the session, is expected to take part in the match at Rugby Park.
Central defensive partner Madjid Bougherra is suspended, while Kyle Lafferty is likely to remain on the sidelines along with long-term casualties Kirk Broadfoot and Maurice Edu.
Provisional squad: McGregor, Whittaker, Papac, Weir, Mendes, Davis, McCulloch, Rothen, Novo, Miller, Naismith, Boyd, Thomson, Fleck, Little, Wilson, Alexander, Beasley.
