Late strike condemns Cork to defeat
Dundalk 1 Cork City 0
Tiernan Mulvenna hit a late winner to deprive Dundalk of going third in the table before a crowd of 2,500 at Oriel Park.
A poor game came alive in the second half with Dundalk winger Michael McGowan shooting against the bar early on.
Cork should have taken the lead on 78 minutes when Billy Dennehy raced through on goal, but was thwarted by a superb tackle from Shaun Kelly.
Dundalk then struck for the only goal of the game on 86 mintues.
Mulvenna challenged keeper Dan Connor from McGowan’s cross and the ball fell for the striker who shot home.
