Win keeps Leesiders in race for Europe
Cork City 4 Galway United 2
Davin O’Neill scored twice as Cork maintained their push for Europe before a disappointing crowd at Turner’s Cross.
A Kevin Long own goal gifted Galway a fourth minute lead, but O’Neill struck to level with his first goal of the night on 18 minutes, tapping home after Greg O’Halloran’s shot was taken off the line.
Billy Dennehy then put Cork in front on 61 minute when O’Halloran was there again to set him up to blast home.
Gareth Cambridge stretched Cork’s lead four minutes later, shooting home O’Neill knock down.
Alan Murphy got a goal back for Galway, but O’Neill sealed the win seven minutes from time.
