Celtic chief rules out imminent sales

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell tonight vowed there would be no players sold before the conclusion of the Champions League tie with Arsenal.

Recent reports have linked full-back Andreas Hinkel with a move to Hull and midfielder Scott Brown with a switch to Tottenham.

There were rumours today Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was attending tonight's Champions League play-off round first leg between Celtic and Arsenal at Parkhead.

Lawwell insisted there would be no departures before next Wednesday's second leg but did not rule out Hinkel leaving before the transfer window closes.

Of Brown, he said: "We've had no contact with Spurs at all. We know there is a little bit of interest from down south in Andreas. But, again, that's all we have - it's speculation.''

He added on Sky Sports News: "The rest of the business will take care of itself in the next couple of weeks."
