Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was passed fit for this afternoon’s Barclays Premier League opener at Tottenham.

The England midfielder recovered from a groin problem, while both Jamie Carragher (ankle) and Martin Skrtel (hamstring) also started despite injury worries.
