Sligo hoping to learn lessons of Dundalk match

Sligo Rovers will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Dundalk when they take on Derry City at the Showgrounds tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Paul Cook’s side surrendered a 3-1 lead to go down 4-3 at the weekend and now the Bit o’ Red need desperately need a win to move away from the relegation zone.

Rovers have a strong squad available going into tonight’s clash, although there are concerns regarding the fitness of Gavin Peers and Ger Rafter.

Liam Kearney (broken leg), Mark McChrystal (cheek bone) and Sammy Morrow (ankle ligaments) are all out injured for Derry, otherwise boss Stephen Kenny has a full squad to choose from.

Kenny said: “It's as strong a squad as we've had available in around 3 months and we are keen to get back to winning ways in the league and so therefore we have to put in a strong performance.

“Sligo will be tough opponents, they've signed seven players in the transfer window, there aren't too many teams doing that at the minute.

“It should be a good open game and we have them again in the Cup at the weekend, so we have to make sure we come out on the right side of both of those games.”
